A 10-year goal to help stretch our thinking

At $Company, we want to set our long-term ambitions high.

At “moonshot level” in terms of what we want to achieve.

Even if we don’t know how to get there yet.

Even if the goal seems completely unrealistic when compared to what we can do today.

In fact, if our 10-year goal seems reasonable, then it’s probably not enough of a “moonshot goal”

What is a moonshot goal?

A moonshot goal is a tangible long-term goal that inspires everyone to think bigger.

Also known as “Big Hairy Audacious Goals”® (Jim Collins), moonshot goals are meant to be huge, somewhat incredible, yet inspiring a sense of urgency.

Historical examples of great moonshot goals

  • “Before this decade is out, the US will land a man on the Moon and return him safely to the Earth.” (John F. Kennedy, 1961)
  • “A microcomputer on every desk and in every home running Microsoft software” (Bill Gates, 1975)
  • “We will become the Harvard of the West” (Stanford University, 1940s)

$Company Moonshot Goal: WIP

At $COMPANY, our Moonshot goal is undefined for now. The management team is working with our Midstage coach to prepare a moonshot goal that we can all rally around. Please stay tuned.
