At $COMPANY we use the Objectives and Key Results framework both on an annual and on a quarterly level.
What are annual OKRs
Annual OKRs are goals we set that are complex enough to encompass multiple sub-goals, and that will typically take more than a quarter to complete.
- launching a new feature could be a quarterly OKR
- launching a new product could be an annual OKR, especially when subdivided into quarterly milestones such as:
- Product research (which could be a quarterly OKR in that year)
- Product and engineering design
- Development and testing
- Marketing launch
Comparison to traditional project management
We can often compare Annual OKRs to “Programs” in the terminology of traditional project management.
